Case Studies
Overview
This case study shows how Ummeed Welfare Foundation helped a low-income family get access to a ration card. It highlights the challenges faced by people in accessing government schemes and how proper guidance can make a difference.
- Beneficiary: Kesar Jahan
- Problem: No Ration Card
- Solved By: Step-by-step guidance and follow-up
About the Beneficiary
Kesar Jahan lives in Navi Mumbai with her family of five members. Her husband works as a wall painter, but his income is not stable. Some days he gets work, some days he does not. Kesar Jahan also does part-time household work to support the family. Despite their efforts, managing daily expenses, children’s education, and household needs is very difficult.
The Problem
The family did not have a ration card. Because of this:
🔴 They were not getting food at subsidised rates
🔴They had to buy everything at full market price
🔴Their financial pressure increased
She had already tried to apply earlier, but the process
was confusing and incomplete.
